Teaching Phonics

At Easton CE Academy we uses ‘Soundswrite’ phonics and spelling programme to deliver a daily phonics/spelling session to the children in EYFS and KS1. All Y1 children will participate in the National Phonics Screening check that takes place in June. In these test they are asked to read twenty real and twenty ‘psuedo’ words to test their phonic knowledge. Children who do not attain the threshold score are will participate in the screening check in June the following academic year (i.e Year 2)
